An exceptional, rare treasure of immense presence and traditional power. Standing at an impressive 12cm long, this substantial Toki (Adze) pendant is hand-carved in our studio from highly sought-after Totoweka Pounamu.
Named for the deep red markings that mirror the rich coloring of the native New Zealand weka bird, Totoweka is a highly prized and distinct variety of greenstone. In natural light, the adze commands attention with its dark, mottled olive-green body and dense, striking inclusions.
However, its most breathtaking secret is revealed under light. When backlit, the stone floods with a vibrant, neon-green translucency, exposing a magnificent, fiery crimson-red plume trapped deep within the heart of the jade.
The traditional notched head is meticulously bound in a dense, high-tensile black criss-cross lashing that anchors the piece perfectly. Suspended from a premium hand-plaited black adjustable cord, this statement Toki stands as a powerful symbol of authority, inner fortitude, and a deep connection to the earth.
