This stunning Toki carving made by Dion showcases the beautiful colours often found in Kōkopu Pounamu. A magnificent statement piece of wearable art, this elongated Toki (Adze) pendant is entirely handcrafted from a raw mineral slab into a finished taonga.
Kōkopu is recognized by its speckled or mottled texture and diverse color palette, which includes shades of light to dark brown, creamy white, olive green, and even golden tones. Named after the native New Zealand freshwater trout, Kōkopu jade is celebrated for its unique earthy tones. The stone displays a beautiful, pale olive-grey body intricately dappled with natural dark speckles. Striking caramel and rusty-orange inclusions wrap around the edges, adding a rugged, raw-earth beauty to the clean, architectural lines of the cut.
This Toki measures approximately 9cm x 2.5cm and is lashed in a natural toned cord. Strung on hand plaited adjustable necklace, using traditional lashing, making a perfect fit for anyone. This beautiful taonga comes packaged in a black keepsake box perfect for safe keeping, or gifting.
